The Blaskets consists of seven islands – Great Blasket Island ( Blascaod Mór ); Inishvickillaun ( “Dálaighs” or “ Charlies ” island); Inish na Bró; Tiaracht (Western island ); Inish Tuaisceart ( Northern island, The Dead Man, The Sleeping Giant ); Beginish (Small Island ); Oileán na n-Óg (Island of the Young – sometimes called the Sí, or faeries)
The Great Blasket Island being the largest of the Blasket archipelago.
The Blasket island was inhabited until 1953.
At its peak the island have roughly 180 residence.
The Blasket is renowned for its storytellers including Peig Sayers and Thomas O’Criomhthain.
