- The Blaskets consists of seven islands – Great Blasket Island ( Blascaod Mór ); Inishvickillaun ( “Dálaighs” or “ Charlies ” island); Inish na Bró; Tiaracht (Western island ); Inish Tuaisceart ( Northern island, The Dead Man, The Sleeping Giant ); Beginish (Small Island ); Oileán na n-Óg (Island of the Young – sometimes called the Sí, or faeries)
- The Great Blasket Island being the largest of the Blasket archipelago.
- The Blasket island was inhabited until 1953.
- At its peak the island have roughly 180 residence.
- The Blasket is renowned for its storytellers including Peig Sayers and Thomas O’Criomhthain.

Things to look out for on the 20 minutes boat journey to the Blasket Island

Things to do on Blasket Island.
- OPW Island tour a free guided tour of the Blasket Island village giving a talk of the history of the island and the way of the Islanders
- Ireland hike a three hour walk around the Blasket
- Beach relax and soak up the sun on this beautiful beach. Due to the very strong tidal currents swimming is not advised
